FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

for Employers

"Why choose Lake Associates for our hospitality staffing needs? I already have a human resources manager who does all of my hiring."

Since 1982, Lake Associates has been placing hospitality executives in operations positions. We possess the recruitment knowledge that comes with these experiences.

Our training tells us that the Human Resources function is responsible for a myriad of details. These include, but are not limited to; orientation, training, retention, payroll, counseling, performance evaluations, EEOC/Unemployment claims, labor law, policy and procedures, benefits, wage and salary administration, workers compensation/ADA, staff supervision, advertising and recruitment.

Lake Associates has one goal; To find the right person to fill your employment need.

"Why not advertise instead of using a search firm?"

Advertising is expensive and you pay whether you find the person or not. Also, it only reaches individuals who are currently looking for a job. At Lake Associates we recruit through a variety of methods, including speaking to executives who are happily employed, but would look at a job change if the right opportunity presented itself.

"How long will it take to find us the "right" person?"

The average duration of time from our first contact with you, until you hire someone is typically 90 days. However, we have met placement needs in as little as several days, while other searches take months to complete.

"What kind of positions will you search for?"

We will assist you in staffing your executive hospitality management positions. These run the gamut from Resorts, Hotels, Country Clubs, and Restaurants.

"What are your fees?"

We work on a contingency basis, so the charge for our services is payable only if the candidate is hired and is due in full on the first day of the candidate's employment.

"Do we have to pay for your services if we don't select the candidate you send us to interview?"

Absolutely not.

"We are looking to replace someone, but they are currently employed with us. Confidentiality is important to me."

Your confidentiality is of utmost importance to us. We will not disclose who our client is, until you have expressed an interest in interviewing our candidate. We will merely present the opportunity to prospective employees. By granting us exclusivity you are assured of search firm confidentiality.

"What do I need to do on my end?"

The only requirement that we ask of you is to provide us with as detailed a job description as possible. The more information we have concerning the employment opportunity, the better job we will be able to do in finding the right person for you.

When we have selected an individual for your review, we will contact you to discuss their experience and qualifications. If you are interested in interviewing our Candidate, we will assist with the details of the interview.

"Does Lake Associates guarantee for a specific time frame, the placement of an individual?"

No, that is why we insist that you are thorough in the interview process and that you are sure you are hiring the right person.

"So I liked the person you sent to me to interview and wish to extend an offer to them. What is the next step?"

We will give our recommendations to you for salaries and assist you with the formal details of the offer. We ask that you allow us the courtesy of knowing the offer before it is made. We believe that small differences can be overcome and we encourage our assistance in mediating an offer. Many of our clients utilize our services to their fullest and have us extend the offer.

"How can I contact you about my staffing needs?"

It's easy! Just give us a call at (517)543-1340 and ask for a FREE "Client Job Order". You'll get personalized care from a search firm built on integrity.
